Verona and the Lakes District of Northern Italy are unsurpassed in their charm and picturesque natural beauty. This is just the perfect spot for a week’s relaxing holiday by the shores of a lake, enriched by wonderful experiences of this area’s history, art and culture. A special treat is the extraordinary Arena di Verona, Verona’s ancient Roman Amphitheatre which makes a fitting open air stage for the world’s greatest operatic works. The 2010 season includes Aida, Turandot, Carmen, Il Travatore and Madama Butterfly.

 

For opera fans you can choose from one to four performances of different operas.

 

(9 Days: Verona – 6 days; Venice – 3 days)
Departures – subject to at least two passengers: July 25;  August 20

 

Day 1: Arrival in Verona. Transfer to your hotel with free time to settle in.



Day 2: City tour of Verona to include Piazza Erbe, Piazza dei Signori and the statue of
Dante  and the Loggia del Consiglio; Tombs of the Scaligeri, Casa di Giulietta and the so-called Tomba di Giulietta, the Duomo; Arena di Verona and of course Juliet’s balcony.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Day 3: July 27 – Day at leisure: Evening performance of Aida (optional)

 

Day 4: July 28 -  Tour of Lake Garda; Evening performance of  Madama Butterfly (optional)


 

 

 

Day 5: July 29 – Day at leisure: Evening performance of  Carmen (optional)

Day 6: July 30 - Verona and Lakes touring: Evening performance of Turandot (optional)

Day 7: July  31 – Transfer Verona to Venice; afternoon at leisure; Overnight in Venice

 

 


 

Day 8: August 01 – Venice is a unique city with exquisite masterpieces of Art and
Architecture at every corner of the numerous alleys and waterways which wind their way through this city of islands and canals. Today’s program includes a walking tour of the Historical Centre – the Piazzo
San Marco, the Golden Basilica, the Doge’s Palace and the Bridge of Sighs.
In the afternoon you will visit of Fran Church to see paintings by Bellini and Tintoretto as well as Titian’s Assumption. To finish up there is a gondola ride along the inner canals.

 




 

 

Day 9: August 02 – Venice: a half day excursion by motorboat to neighbouring islands of Murano and Torcello past San Giorgio Maggiore and on to Burano. Tonight there is something a little different – a short Venice Ghost Walk to hear the chilling tales of Venice’s ghosts and legends.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Day 10: August 03 – after breakfast at your hotel, transfer for your onward journey to

Rome, Europe or home.
