
The Hungarian State Opera House in Budapest is the venue for a major social event that marks the New Year’s Eve Gala to welcome in the New Year. Join in the celebrations with nearly one thousand member audience of guests in a programme full of popular and world-famous Hungarian artists at this internationally recognized event. This is a very different night at the Opera – fabulous gowns, chic tuxes, exquisite food and the very best of wines – all reflect the monarchial glamour of the New Year’s Ball. There is a ceremonial champagne opening, New Year’s Eve Dinner prepared by the Grundel Restaurant, with seating in the boxes, on the stage and in the state-rooms of the Opera House. After the New Year’s toast at midnight there is dancing until dawn.

Itinerary:
December 28: Depart London’s Heathrow Airport. Arrival in Budapest and transfer to the lavish Four Seasons Gresham Palace Hotel in the city centre overlooking the Danube and Chain Bridge. Guests will meet for a welcome dinner in the hotel’s Pava Restaurant

December 29: This morning you will be escorted on a city tour to see the major sites. After lunch (your own arrangements) the group will visit the Museum of Fine Arts with its comprehensive collection dating from 1870 purchased from the Esterhazy family. Many works by the Old Masters can be seen in this splendid collection of paintings and sculptors – Goya, Raphael, Picasso, Chardin, Pieter Breugel the Elder and Toulouse-Lautrec are but a few. Tonight you will enjoy a classical performance

December 30: Today begins with a visit to the Royal estate of Godollo. After lunch you will have the opportunity to visit and experience one of Budapest’s Bath Houses – either Gelert Baths or the Szechenyi Bath complex. Now fully refreshed, you will be ready for tonight’s entertainment. Evening: In 2010 there is a special Gala Concert by the 100 Gypsy Violins to be held in the Budapest Congress and World Trade Centre

December 31: We are planning for a leisurely day with a morning visit to the Hungarian National Gallery or a visit to one of the many cathedrals or Synagogue. The afternoon is at leisure for you to prepare for tonight’s Ball.
Evening: New Year’s Eve Ball at the Opera.
