ITINERARY : TOUR IHCO7: THE BUDAPEST SPRING FESTIVAL

March to April, 2011

 



The Budapest Spring Festival features the top musicians from Hungary and the rest of world. It is held from the last two weeks of March through to about mid-April. Over these few weeks a range of music and dance programs is presented in churches (concerts in St Michael’s Church) and concert halls from the Budapest Operetta Theatre, Thalia Theatre, Palace of the Arts, the Hall of Mirrors in the Festetics Palace and of course the amazing Hungarian State Opera House. The programs are available a few months before commencement and there is a choice from two to seven different performances each night for the time of the festival.

Friday, March 19 – Royal Danish Ballet; Levay-Kunze: Rebecca The Mistress of Manderley – premiere; Victor Hugo: Ruy Blas; Beethoven evening

TOUR IHC07: BUDAPEST SUMMER MUSICAL FESTIVAL
June 30 and August 16, 2011

The Budapest Summer Opera and Ballet Festival is held at the Hungarian State Opera House and features Hungarian and international performances of opera and ballet. This is a ten day series of shows making up the summer season. To be a guest in the State Opera House is a special memory, with its marble columned foyer and gilded vaulted ceiling murals you will be transferred into another world. The main staircase will take you into the central performance area with its proscenium stage and the stunning Royal Box, decorated with sculptures symbolizing the four operatic voices you will hear – soprano, alto, tenor and bass. The detailed program is not released until closer to the commencement of summer.
